Huanglong locates in the south section, Minshan Mountain, Songpan County, Akanzang and Qiang nationality autonomous prefecture, north of Sichuan province. It's a transition zone where the east edge of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau connects the Sichuan plains.
The Huanglong scenic spot was granted the name of "world natural heritage" by UNESCO in Dec 1992. Huanglong is famous for its colored pool, snow mountain, canyon and forest. The sloping valley goes along between the forests and ice peaks like a huge dragon flying in the sky. Huanglong is a large-scaled, multi-typed, odd-structured and colored mountain becoming a miracle in China. In Huanglong, the main spot is Huanglong Valley, which looks like a dragon. There are many secrets in Huanglong for scientists to study. There are also many rare species here. In addition it is a good place for pandas to live.
