中国人寿保险利润受投资收益拉动增长

| China Life Insurance, the nation's largest life insurer by market share, said third quarter net profit rose 92 percent to 126.9 billion yuan (US$17.8 billion) on a 55 percent increase in operating income to 299 billion yuan. The company specializes in life, annuity and health insurance, and is known for its extensive sales network. For the first nine months of the year, income rose 26 percent to 537.9 billion, and net was up 61 percent to 168 billion yuan. Income from investment in strong financial market rallies this year shot up 41 percent. Premium income gained 10 percent. As of September 30, the insurer reported assets of 7.4 trillion yuan.
Other leading Chinese insurers also reported balance-sheet benefits from investments in this year's bullish stock markets. People's Insurance Company of China said net income in the third quarter rose 49 percent to 20.3 billion yuan on an 11 percent revenue gain to 197 billion yuan. Income from investments shot up 35 percent. For the first nine months, revenue rose 11 percent to 521 billion yuan, yielding a 29 percent increase in profit to 46.8 billion yuan. The company had assets of 1.9 trillion yuan. China Pacific Insurance Group said third-quarter net profit surged 19 percent from a year earlier to 45.7 billion yuan, on a 3.6 percent gain in revenue to 216 billion yuan. |

| The recent trade deal between the US and China has shifted the ground somewhat under the high-profile dispute involving the US, China and Netherlands over Dutch-based chipmaker Nexperia, which is owned by China's Wingtech Technology. The dispute threatens to disrupt supplies of vital chips used in automaking, alarming global carmakers.
Dutch authorities seized Nexperia in late October on grounds of national security, and Beijing responded by banning chip exports from Nexperia's Chinese factories. The Dutch action was apparently based on information from the US that Washington was expanding a trade blacklist, which already includes Wingtech, to rope in subsidiaries like Nexperia. However, the trade agreement reached by Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump at a meeting last week has suspended the list expansion. In turn, China's commerce ministry indicated it may loosen export restrictions on semiconductors made by Nexperia in China. The Dutch company said on Sunday it welcomed recent statements by the US and China removing barriers to chip shipments, but it declined to comment from a statement from its Chinese subsidiary that it will seek independence from its parent. The Dutch government said separately it is continuing talks with the Chinese and other governments on a "constructive way forward." Nexperia's China unit on Sunday said it has "sufficient inventories" and a stable supply chain, seeking to calm concerns after its Dutch parent halted wafer shipments to its Chinese plant last week. |

| Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump, after a 90-minute meeting in South Korea on Thursday, agreed to roll back some tariffs and trade barriers that have flared tensions.
China's Ministry of Commerce said the agreement calls for the US to reduce a fentanyl-related tariff, continue a suspension of 24 reciprocal tariffs on Chinese imports, pause investigations targeting China's shipping and logistics industries, and delay a blacklist expansion that could affect some 20,000 Chinese companies. Trump said the accord calls for China to suspend tighter export controls on rare earth minerals for a year, resume buying US soybeans and take stronger steps to curtail exports of chemicals used in making illicit fentanyl. Trump also said the agreement leaves an overall average tariff rate of about 47 percent on Chinese imports, and he said the meeting didn't cover the sale of Nvidia's advanced AI Blackwell chips to China, which had earlier been signaled. |

| China announced it will launch the Shenzhou-21 manned spacecraft to its Tiangong space station tonight. It will be crewed by spacecraft pilot and flight commander Zhang Lu, flight engineer Wu Fei and payload specialist Zhang Hongzhang. The three will relieve the Shenzhou-20 crew aboard the space station, then stay aboard the orbiting station for about six months to carry out scientific experiments. It is China's 37th manned spaceflight. The China space agency said the nation is on track for sending astronauts to the moon by 2030. It also said it is selecting two Pakistani astronauts for future space flight, following a February agreement between Beijing and Islamabad. | |

| The focus of global diplomacy and trade shifts to Asia this week, with two regional summits of world leaders set amid hopes of easing global tensions. The three-day meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) began on Sunday in Malaysia. It will be followed by a four-day meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Organization (APEC) that begins on Friday in South Korea. US President Trump will attend both meetings; Chinese President Xi Jinping will be attending the APEC meeting. Japan's new prime minister Sanae Takaichi, the first woman ever to hold the post, will be making her diplomatic debut at the twin summits.
Concurrent with the ASEAN summit, Chinese and US negotiators meeting in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur said they reached preliminary consensus on a trade framework addressing bilateral concerns. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the agreement covers Chinese-owned social media platform TikTok, Chinese export controls on rare earth minerals and Chinese purchases of US soybeans, and it also removes Trump's threat of additional 100 percent tariffs on China that were to take effect on November 1. He said the framework deal will be the basis of talks between Xi and Trump when they meet in South Korea on Thursday. The Chinese side said the preliminary agreement involves tariff suspension, trade in agricultural products, export controls and US measures targeting shipbuilding and maritime trade, but made no comment on a possible meeting between both leaders. China's Vice Minister of Commerce and top negotiator called the discussions "in-depth" and "candid," adding that "the US has a tough stand, and China is firm in safeguarding our own interest." At the start of the ASEAN summit, Trump presided over the signing of a peace accord between Thailand and Cambodia, after summer military skirmishes along their disputed border, even though his involvement in brokering the ceasefire was peripheral. Trump also signed trade deals with ASEAN members Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia. |
